From the moment we begin, our process is centered around you. We take time to understand how you live, what you value, and what matters most in your home. With your builder, we will review your architectural plan so that we can assess and make recommendations on the space planning and flow and create a design that is perfectly cohesive with the bones of the home. Based on your inspiration, our team presents a detailed proposal that reflects your needs, priorities, and the customization you desire — giving you clarity and confidence before we move forward.
We’ll get to work on functional space plans, overall style concepts, architectural details and finish selections for every room of your home. Through video conferences, in-person meetings, and showroom visits, we’ll develop a unique, cohesive plan with conceptual renderings so you can envision your life in your new home.
We work closely with your builder throughout the project, beginning with an initial meeting to review expectations, discuss preferred vendors and allowances, and evaluate necessary details for a successful project.
We will develop finish schedules by trade, construction documents, and architectural elevations and review all documents with you and your builder to ensure that your home is cohesive with our approved vision and plan.
Our team will meet with your builder and subcontractors for scheduled walk-throughs of the property throughout construction. As construction progresses, we will work closely with them every step of the way to ensure that all details of your home are aligned with the original vision.
Approximately 6 months before the scheduled completion of your home, we will begins the selections process for new furnishings.
With your vision and lifestyle as our guide, we’ll create thoughtful layouts and custom style concepts for every room. Together, we’ll refine furnishings, artwork, and décor that feel inviting, personal and just like home.
Once your selections are approved, our team takes over — managing all ordering, tracking, inspections, and deliveries on your behalf. You’ll receive regular updates from us without needing to oversee anything yourself. After everything has arrived and been carefully inspected in our warehouse, we’ll schedule your furnishings and decor installation in coordination with your builder and the completion of your home.
On Install Day, we bring your vision to life — overseeing deliveries, coordinating installations, and styling each space with thoughtful detail and personalization. Every element is placed with intention to ensure your home feels uniquely yours and exceeds your expectations. After your reveal, we manage any final touches, and with your permission, coordinate a professional photoshoot to beautifully capture your home for marketing and editorial features.
Client Onboarding and Initial Consult
Duration: Approximately two weeks
At the beginning of the design process, you’ll meet with your NSH Design Team to discuss the details of your project, including the scope of work, how your family will utilize the spaces, and initial design inspiration. We’ll review the architectural drawings and discuss any changes or ideas to ensure your new home surpasses your expectations.
Afterward, we’ll create a detailed Scope of Work Proposal for our design services for your review. With your approval, our team will begin working to curate and refine your new home.
Developing Your Customized Design Plan
Duration: Approximately 2-4 months
Our team will host an introductory meeting with your builder to review expectations, discuss their preferred vendors and allowances, and evaluate necessary details to ensure a successful working relationship.
Your NSH Design Team initiates design development by reviewing your final architectural plans and creating overall style concepts that we’ll present via video conference. Once your home plans and concepts are solidified, we’ll provide options for all finishes and unique architectural details in scheduled video conferences and showroom visits for your review and selection.
After we have specified the selections for your home, we’ll host you in our Design Studio to review all the finishes and samples in person. We’ll finalize your finishes together and present renderings of your spaces to ensure your home’s design plan is a thoughtful curation of your unique needs and style.
Project Execution
Duration: Varies based on build schedules
Now we’re ready to execute! After our final selection meetings, we’ll develop finish schedules by trade, construction documents, and architectural elevations required for seamless execution. Our team will meet with you and your builder to review all selections and documents to ensure that your home build will be completed according to your approved vision and plan.
We’ll present your final proposal with any fixtures, decorative details, and wallcoverings that our team will be ordering for your home. Your Design Team will place all orders and manage the tracking, shipment, inspection, and delivery of every item and will coordinate installation with your builder. Our team will meet with your builder and subcontractors for scheduled walk-throughs at your jobsite and will be there every step of the way to collaborate on additional details as needed.
Approximately 6 months before the scheduled completion of your home, we’ll start the selections process for furnishings as requested.

Follow-Up

Our team ensures all items are moving smoothly throughout the process, and we do occasionally have items that require follow-up. We’ll reach out after your home is completed to handle any extra details or answer any questions you may have.
After final installation, you may be contacted by our Marketing Manager to set up a professional photoshoot of your spaces for our use in marketing, social media, and media publications
